I suppose the biggest news is news that most of you will all know. Cris' father, Terance, passed away early in the month. While he had been sick for many years and recently in the hospital recovering from a stroke, the news was somewhat of a shock. We thought that he was stable. Cris, Zech, Emma and I all made the trip to England for the funeral. The funeral was held on Friday, October 6. The weather on that day was miserable - cold and rainy. Everyone joked that Terance was the one pouring buckets on us and laughing. While at the pub afterwards, there were a few brief moments when the sun came out and you could see a rainbow. On Sunday, we came back and Brenda came with us. We all thought that it would be a good idea for her to get away for a few days.
Cris took vacation on the last week of the kids' fall break from school. We didn't have many things planned. The boys were tested to see what they are allergic too. It was a long morning, but they held up very well. Tyler is allergic to almost everything, like Cris. Zech is not, but what he is allergic to - he is REALLY allergic to. They will begin their own allergy shots in a few weeks.
On Wednesday, October 18, we took the kids to Chattanooga, TN. We arrived in town and went to Rock City. The name is the best description. It is a walk thru rock garden. It's a beautiful place. Sadly, the day was a little cool and very overcast. When you reach the top (the point where you are "supposed" to be able to see 7 states), you could not see anything except the clouds that you were in. It made me dizzy! Still, it was fun and the kids enjoyed it. We left and went to the hotel. We stayed at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. It is a hotel that used to be an actual train station. It is a really neat place to stay and look around. We eventually found a place to eat lunch in the hotel. The food was ok, but not worth the money we paid. Emma was rotten the entire time we were there. We walked around with the kids and went swimming. After eating dinner, we decided to come home. We really didn't have any definite plans so we thought it would be best. Emma was tired, sick, and really out of sorts. We took the kids bowling the next day to make up for coming home early.
Football is almost over. The boys have finished their regular season games and the play-offs will start this Saturday. It is a single elimination so if they lose one game then they are finished. Basketball season will be starting in either November or December. Kyla is still doing her cheerleading and seems to be enjoying it.
The foliage here has been so beautiful the past week or so. All of our leaves have turned to beautiful shades of orange, red or yellow.
Cris & I are both well. We are happy to be getting back to our normal routines. The kids are back in school so they aren't very happy about that. Emma is growing and changing every day. She watches everyone so closely and mimics what we all do. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
Hope everyone is well. Happy Halloween!
Here are a couple of pictures from our trip.
