Emma's First Birthday and Party

Sorry about the lay-out on the pictures. I'm still learning the best way to do all of this. Obviously these are from Emma's birthday and party. Her birthday was on Wednesday, December 28 and her party was on Saturday, December 31 (Cris' birthday). We didn't really do much on her actual birthday. She opened her gifts from Nana in the morning and from us later in the day. She wasn't just overly impressed.
We had her party at the house and invited all of our friends & family. She took a pretty good nap in the morning (thankfully) so she was in a decent mood for her party. We had quite a few people turn out for the party so we had a houseful. We had 2 cakes. The main cake was an ice cream cake decorated with Winnie the Pooh. We had another smaller cake for just Emma. Emma didn't like her cake. We tried to get her to dig into it, but she really didn't like the feel of it on her fingers. We even put cheerios on it to tempt her, and while she pulled the cheerios off, she couldn't stand the feel of the icing. So, we gave up. She did take quite a few bites off of momma's plate of the ice cream cake.. She enjoyed it, but she didn't have to touch it. The party itself was rather tame unless you count the older kids running around like a bunch of apes. We opened Emma's presents (well, momma did) and she spent her time playing with ribbon. Sounds about right for a first birthday, doesn't it?
The party went well and we thank all of our friends and family who were able to make it.
I have to say that I am glad the party and the holidays are over and we can now get back to normal.
Today was Cris' first day back to work and the kids' first day back to school. I think everyone was a little ready to get back to our usual routine. That is really about all of the news I can think of at the moment.
I have every intention of trying to find a way to post a link on the blog to all of our pictures. That way you can check them out at your leisure. Well... someday.
