Annual Crannigan 4th of July party

Once again, we held our annual 4th of July party. This year it was on Saturday, July 1 (right after we came home from vacation). We invited our friends and neighbors over for a barbecue and some fireworks. The menu was relatively simple with hamburgers and hot dogs cooked on the grill. We had chips and a few side dishes. It was really hot outside. While Cris was cooking the burgers, Joe, Melissa, Eric & Heather spent about 1 hour filling 400 water balloons. After we ate, the kids went at it with the water balloons. Needless to say it wasn't long before the adults joined in.
They hauled one of the coolers that was full of balloons up to the deck and opened fire on the kids. It was great! I think that everyone had alot of fun. After the balloons were all gone (it only took maybe 30 minutes), the kids then started playing with the water guns. Between the water fights and the fireworks, Cris cut up one of the watermelons to eat. Then the big kids brought out the bottle rockets. I think that they had all of the kids down with them taking turns lighting bottle rockets.
Before the big show started, we let the younger kids take turns with the pop its and sparklers. It finally got dark enough to shoot off the big fireworks. Everyone had chipped in & contributed to the fireworks so we had an excellent show. Richard, Joe & Cris were all lighting the fireworks and the show lasted about 45 minutes. The babies were exhausted and fell asleep during the firework show. Once the fireworks were over, everyone went home.
It was alot of fun and we enjoy having our friends and family over to share the holiday.
On the actual day (4th of July) we didn't really do much. Mom & I went shopping, but otherwise we didn't really do anything. That evening we went over to Mal's (Mom's friend) house. We had dinner and then watched the Algood and Trinity Assembly (church) fireworks from his back yard. It was a really good show. Once again, Emma managed to stay awake to watch the firworks and seemed to enjoy them. She kept "oohing" and "aaahing".
That sums up our 4th of July holiday. I will post again soon about our very short trip to Fairfield Glade.
